Jillian Guy is in her third year as a student-athlete success coach at Northeast Mississippi Community College.
Northeast student-athletes broke or tied two academic school records during Guy’s second year on staff. That includes 57 Academic All-Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) and 35 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Academic Student-Athlete Awards.
Five Northeast programs, including baseball, men’s golf, men's tennis, softball and women's basketball, garnered NJCAA All-Academic Team recognition as well. Men's golf has won two MACCC Academic Team of the Year honors since Guy arrived on the Booneville campus.
Guy was a student-athlete herself as a member of the Mississippi State University women’s golf program from 2005-09. She was the Lady Bulldogs' representative on the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Community Service Team in 2008.
The Crossville, Tenn., native was an academic counselor at Mississippi State from 2011-14. She ensured that student-athletes in the baseball, football, men’s golf, softball, women’s golf, women’s soccer and women’s tennis programs made progress toward their respective degrees.
Guy moved back to the Volunteer State in 2014 to work as graduation specialist in the records office at Pellissippi State (Tenn.) Community College. She then accepted a position at her alma mater of Cumberland County (Tenn.) High School in 2016.
She taught computer applications, media, business economics, personal finance, American business legal system and introduction to business and marketing. She also served as assistant softball and head girls golf coach.
Guy earned a Bachelor’s degree in general business and marketing plus two Master’s degrees in the fields of business and sports administration through Mississippi State. She is married to Bryan and the couple has two children, Will and Whitleigh.
