BOONEVILLE, Miss. – Northeast Mississippi Community College's softball team will hold a three-day softball camp immediately follow the Memorial Day break in May.

Northeast head softball coach Jody Long has set May 28-30 as the dates for the thirteenth version of the Northeast softball camp, which lasts from 9 a.m. until noon each day.

Campers should report to the Booneville City Park softball fields between 8:30-8:45 a.m. each day and will be dismissed from the same location at noon.

"Hard work and fun are coordinated to bring out the most in a girl," Long said. "We make every effort for the camp to be a gratifying and worthwhile experience for every camper."

Cost of the softball camp is $70 for all three days and the camp fee includes a camp T-shirt and accidental medical insurance.

A $35 deposit is required to hold a spot in registration with the remaining amount due the first day of the camp.

During the three-day camp, athletes will work on skills and fundamentals associated with hitting, butting, defense, base running, pitching and catching. Individual instruction will also be given to help campers correct faults or perfect skills.

Campers need to bring cleats, tennis or turf shoes, a softball glove and bat that are clearly marked, batting gloves, a hat or visor for the summer sun, practice or wind suit pants and practice shirts. Those wanting to working on catching need to furnish their own catching gear and knee pads.

Northeast's softball camp is open to any athlete 7 years old through an upcoming senior in high school and applications are taken on a first-come, first-serve basis.
