A trio of former Northeast Mississippi Community College athletes has made an impact on the Gulf South Conference in the classroom.

Booneville's Nicki Whitten, Kossuth's Haley Knepp and Iuka's Marcey Anne Sykes were all named to the Gulf South Conference's Honor Roll at the culmination of classes in May.

Sykes, a former Lady Tiger tennis player, led the former Lady Tiger trio with a 3.90 grade point average in communications while Whitten and Knepp both make the Gulf South Conference's Honor Roll as part of Lady Lion softball program.

Knepp, an outfielder, posted a 3.04 grade point average while Whitten finished the year with a 3.59 grade point average.

Both Knepp and Whitten are secondary education majors.
