Tiger Baseball Takes Series Over East Central (MO)

Booneville, MS – After kicking off the season down in the sunshine state of Florida, Northeast baseball made their way back to The Plex for their home opener this past weekend with a four-game series against the Falcons of East Central (MO). Colin Flurry opened the series with three homers in the first two games of the series to spark an offensive onslaught for the Tigers who won three straight games to take a 3-1 series win in their 2026 home debut.

Northeast hammered out five bombs in game one against the Falcons for a dominant performance at the plate for the Tigers to grab a 14-4 win in a run rule victory. Flurry's dominance at the plate kicked off in the bottom of the first with a 2-RBI double to push Northeast ahead 2-1 before he sent a missile over right center field for a grand slam to grow the Tigers' lead to 8-4 entering the fourth. Another round tripper from Flurry in the fourth kicked off a chain reaction for Northeast with Hank Eaton, Drew Hollimon, and Conner McKnatt all sending one beyond the fence for five total homers for the Tigers in game one to clinch a win in the series opener.

Flurry opened game two with his third home run of the day to push Northeast ahead early on in a 7-4 win over the Falcons for a day one sweep. A combination of Otto Hyche and McKnatt on the mound resulted in 12 strikeouts through seven innings to clip the Falcons' wings with Hyche retiring six straight with four strikeouts between the third and fourth innings. A run by McKnatt off a sacrifice fly continued the scoring for Northeast who piled on throughout the game to take a 7-4 win and a 2-0 series lead.

Saturday's doubleheader started with another win for the Tigers who took game three of the series 9-4 behind another offensive raid at the plate. Three runs in the bottom of the first helped push Northeast ahead once again with Austin Spears connecting on a 2-RBI double to right field with McKnatt later recording an RBI single to drive home Hollimon for a 4-2 lead. Trae Cagle's inside the park homer added another pair of runs to the Tigers' lead while Flurry once again stepped up and drove in a run off a double to right center to finish game three with a 9-4 win and a 3-0 series lead.

In the final game of the series, it was Northeast who came up short as East Central (MO) pushed ahead to hand the Tigers a 10-6 loss to finish the weekend. Cooper Davis stepped up and slammed an RBI double to left field to put a score on the board in the fourth followed by Kieran Coleman sending out a sacrifice fly to bring home another pair of runs to even up the score at 5-5 entering the final inning. 5 runs by the Falcons in the top of the seventh put game four out of reach with East Central (MO) claiming the game but it was the Northeast Tigers who took the series win 3-1.

Northeast baseball improves to 4-3 on the 2026 season following their series win over East Central (MO). The Tigers will hit the road on Tuesday for a doubleheader against Marion Military before coming back home to The Plex for a three-game series against Parkland with a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 2:00 PM and game three taking place on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
